Ceramic Coating for Ann Arbor Drivers

Tree Town is tough on paint.

They call Ann Arbor Tree Town for a reason, and anyone who parks on the street in the Old West Side or Burns Park knows what that canopy does to a car. Sap, pollen, leaf stains and bird droppings land on the paint daily, and left alone they etch into the clear coat. A ceramic coating gives those contaminants a hard, slick layer to sit on instead, so they wash away before they do damage. Add winter salt and summer sun and the case makes itself. We prep the paint properly first, with a decontamination wash, clay bar and correction where needed, because a coating is only as good as the surface under it.

“I got my car tinted and PPF here. An absolutely incredible job. Moody was prompt with updates and the quality speaks for itself. All my edges are tucked and the tint goes right to the edge. Never knew you could do that.”

Nano-Ceramic Paint Coating

Prep first, then the coating.

Ceramic coating is a liquid nano-ceramic that bonds to your clear coat and cures into a hard, slick, glass-like layer. Water and grime bead up and sheet off, washing takes a fraction of the effort, and the paint keeps a deep gloss while being shielded from UV fade, bird droppings, tree sap and road salt. We start with a decontamination wash and clay bar, do a light paint correction where the paint needs it, then apply the coating by hand, panel by panel, and let it cure indoors. It is protection measured in years, not the weeks you get from wax.

Questions We Get

Ceramic Coating FAQ.

Can ceramic coating go over PPF or a wrap?

Yes. Coating over paint protection film is a common pairing, and it makes the film easier to clean. If your car is wrapped or has film on it, tell us and we will recommend what suits that surface.

Does ceramic coating stop rock chips?

No, and anyone who says it does is overselling. A coating protects against UV, chemicals, water spotting and grime, and it makes the paint far easier to keep clean. Stopping chips is a job for paint protection film, and the two work well together.

Do I still have to wash the car?

Yes, but it gets a lot easier. Dirt has a hard time sticking to a coated surface, so most of it rinses off and the rest comes away with a gentle hand wash. You can skip waxing altogether.
