Why Owners Film Them

Stainless is not paint.

The Cybertruck is the only truck on the road with an unpainted stainless steel body. It does not rust like painted steel and it shrugs off a lot, but it has its own problems, and they are why owners come to us.

01

No clear coat to fix

On a painted car, light scratches are polished out of the clear coat. Stainless has no clear coat. A scuff or a stone mark is in the metal.

02

Fingerprints and oils

Every hand that touches the truck leaves a print, and body oils left on bare steel can stain it. Film or coating gives them nothing to bond to.

03

Orange specks

Iron particles from rail dust and brake dust land on the steel and oxidize on the surface. Film keeps them off the stainless entirely.

04

Michigan salt

Tesla's own manual says to remove road salt, bird droppings and tree resin right away and to avoid automatic car washes. Film makes a Michigan winter far easier on the truck.

The Process

How we do a Cybertruck.

  1. Decontaminate

Full wash, iron removal and clay so no particles, oils or fingerprints get sealed under the film.

  2. Pattern every panel

Cybertruck panels are huge and flat, so film is planned panel by panel to keep seams out of sight.

  3. Lay, tuck, heat-set

Film goes on without stretching, edges are tucked at every hard crease and heat-set so nothing lifts.

  4. Inspect and finish

Every edge checked under the bay lights. Add a ceramic coating or ceramic tint while it is here.

Questions We Get

Cybertruck FAQ.

Why put PPF on a truck with no paint?

Because there is no clear coat to polish a scratch out of. A key mark, a scuff from a pillar or a stone hit on bare stainless is in the metal itself. PPF takes those hits instead, and light marks in the film heal with heat.

Wrap or PPF, which should I get?

If you like the stainless look, get clear PPF, it keeps the look and protects it. If you want a different color, get a vinyl wrap. If you want color and maximum protection, colored or satin PPF is the route Tesla itself took for its own Cybertruck wraps.

Will matte PPF change how the stainless looks?

Very little. A matte or satin film keeps the brushed steel look, it mostly just evens out the finish. Gloss film is the one that changes it, giving the panels a wet, polished shine.

Can it come off later?

Yes. Both vinyl wraps and PPF are designed to come off cleanly, which is why owners use them on trucks they plan to sell or trade. The steel underneath is exactly as it was when the film went on.

Can I take it through a car wash?

Hand washing is best, and Tesla discourages automatic car washes for the Cybertruck anyway. With film on, a hand wash with plain car soap is all it needs, and a ceramic coating over the film makes it even quicker.

What are the orange spots on my Cybertruck?

Usually iron particles from rail dust or brake dust sitting on the steel and oxidizing on the surface. We remove that contamination before any film goes on, and once the film is on, new particles land on the film instead of the stainless.

Do you tint Cybertruck windows too?

Yes. We install nano-ceramic tint, and it is a common add-on while the truck is already here for film, since the Cybertruck has a lot of glass for the sun to come through.

How long will I be without the truck?

It depends on the coverage. Full-body film or a full color change on a truck this size takes longer than a front-end package. You will get a timeline with your quote, and we keep you updated while it is in the bay.

Is there a warranty?

Yes. The paint protection film we install carries a 12-year factory warranty, and the workmanship is backed by a shop with a 5.0 rating on Google.

Do I have to cover the whole truck?

No. Plenty of owners start with the high-impact areas: the front end under the light bar, the leading edges and the lower panels behind the wheels. Full-body coverage protects every panel. We will quote both so you can compare.
